Seating that keeps you moving, now tuned to the person in it.

CMG® has filed five new U.S. patent applications that extend Healthy Motion Seating® with artificial intelligence, route awareness, downloadable retrofit software, connected fleet data, and seating beyond the vehicle.

A seat that understands the person sitting in it

Long hours in one position compress tissue and tire the body, whether the seat is in a car, a truck cab, an aircraft cabin, an office, or a wheelchair. Healthy Motion Seating® answers that with movement. It commands the motors and bladders a seat already has to make small, slow position changes an occupant barely notices, so body weight shifts and tissue gets a chance to recover. No extra hardware, no added weight.

The five new applications take that platform further. Artificial intelligence makes the motion personal, tuning it to the individual occupant and the conditions of the moment instead of running one fixed routine for everyone. Route and vehicle context let the seat act early, before the stretches of a trip where alertness typically fades. Pooled seat data turns a fleet's experience into insight for the operators who run it and the manufacturers who build it. Downloadable software brings all of this to vehicles already on the road. And the same approach reaches beyond the vehicle entirely, into the chairs where people work, heal, and get around.

Four steps, running quietly in the background

The occupant does nothing. The seat handles the rest.

STEP 01

Sense

Seat and vehicle sensors track posture, movement, pressure, and occupant condition, along with the driving or flight context around them.

STEP 02

Decide

Proprietary logic sets the motion algorithm for this person at this moment, rather than repeating a fixed cycle.

STEP 03

Move

The seat's existing actuators carry out the adjustment slowly and subtly, pausing motion during braking, takeoff, landing, and other critical events.

STEP 04

Learn

Manual corrections and measured outcomes refine the occupant's profile, and improvements reach the seat through secure remote updates.

What our pending applications cover

Each one moves Healthy Motion Seating® further from a seat feature toward a software and data platform that travels across seat architectures and industries.

01

Motion tuned by AI

Adjustment timing, size, and type are set for the individual occupant from continuous monitoring, not preset for the average person.

02

Alertness ahead of the curve

Route and vehicle context signal where attention typically drops, so the seat acts before fatigue sets in rather than after a warning chime.

03

Upgrade by download

Vehicles already in service can gain adaptive motion through installable software and secure over the air updates, with no new parts.

04

Control stays with the occupant

Motion suspends on critical events and yields instantly to a manual adjustment, staying inside defined ergonomic and safety limits.

05

Seating beyond the vehicle

The same approach carries into office chairs, medical recliners, and mobility seating.

06

Insight across a fleet

Seat data pooled across vehicles reveals comfort trends, guides seat design, and flags components that need service before they fail.

Fatigue is a safety problem. Sitting still is a health problem.

The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that 17.6 percent of all fatal U.S. crashes from 2017 to 2021 involved a drowsy driver. Regulators now require new vehicles in Europe to detect a drowsy driver and issue a warning. Detection tells you there is a problem. Motion does something about it.

For automakers and seat suppliers

  • Runs on the motors and controllers already in the seat, so it adds no parts, weight, or tooling
  • Turns comfort into a software feature that can be improved after the vehicle ships
  • Complements driver monitoring by answering the alert instead of repeating it
  • Ports across seat architectures, from memory seat motors to pneumatic bladders

For the people who sit

  • Relief from the pressure points and stiffness that build over long hours in one position
  • Support for circulation during long drives and long flights
  • Movement that arrives on its own, with no button to press and nothing to remember
  • Comfort settings that follow the individual from one seat and one vehicle to the next

Built to license, designed to travel

We license our technology and build motion programs around a partner's own seats and platforms. If your customers sit, we should talk.
